Summers catcher Lane establishes new season stolen base mark

Summers County catcher Ben Lane established a new stolen base mark last week in the Bobcats season-ending 13-10 victory against Richwood.

Lane swiped four bags in that game to break the mark of 42 held by former Bobcats all-stater Matt Ryan (2015).

He has since run that stolen base mark to 53 as the Bobcats advanced along in sectional tournament play this week.

Lane has a .928 stolen base percentage, swiping 53 of 57 bases for the season.

Lane is hitting .450 for the Bobcats, 16-13, who now face the loser of today’s GBC-James Monroe game in the sectional tournament Monday. Lane has seven doubles and leads the team in runs with 48 and has 21 runs batted in.

The Bobcats’ Brandon Isaac is also on a current 28-game on-base streak for the Bobcats. He leads the team in hitting at .468 with 15 doubles, 39 runs and 29 RBIs. He has 36 steals and has only been caught once.
