NARROWS, Va. – Cooper Ridgeway ran for 174 yards and a touchdown as Class A No. 1 James Monroe beat Narrows, Va. 21-6 Friday.
James Monroe improved to 3-0. Narrows, Va. fell to 4-1.
It was the first time the neighboring schools have played since 2012 and the Mavericks improved their lead to 16-0 in the all-time series.
Brock Parker scored on a short run giving the Mavericks a 7-0 halftime lead.
A Layton Dowdy to Chaz Boggs made the score 14-0 before Ridgeway ended the scoring with a 40-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Narrows scored on a short run with 2:28 remaining.
James Monroe nearly doubled up the Green Waves in total offense 345-173 and outrushed Narrows 275-60.
James Monroe hosts Summers next week, the team’s first home game of the season.
